WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THEM SO FAR?

Along with another 21 million people here in the UK, I turned on my TV to watch the match at 7.30pm yesterday evening.

Watching the images relayed from the stadium, it made me proud to see such fine, upstanding, clean cut, hard-working young Englishmen representing our country in South Africa.

But enough about the Princes William and Harry. What about the English football team - weren't they CRAP??

Agreed.

I was waiting for something to happen. Some energy or dare I say, passion. Nothing. Talk about dull.

I know nothing about football btw:-)

I went out. Beforehand I really didn't want to go, but didn't want to let down the others involved in the evening. When I got home, I realised I hadn't really missed anything worth missing!

Lane - well you know enough about football to expect energy and passion. Two pretty vital ingredients in my book when wearing a shirt with the three lions badge on it.

Kitty - with hindsight you were lucky to miss it and have an evening out with friends! (PS : Nice to see you back here).

Hmmmm. I don't know enough to comment on the players or the game. Chopper is watching every game he can though!

Utterly, utterly crap. Grrrr. But the annoying thing is that the Tim Henman Syndrome keeps on and on. I keep believing that Eventually They Will Win.
Silly old me. x

DJ - so is Chopper keeping his thoughts to himself or does he feel as let down as the rest of us?

LWM - yes, you've got it spot on with the "Tim Henman Syndrome". I express likewise sentiments and Mrs Troy provides the voice of realism in our family.

My daughter was so miffed with Wayne Rooney daring to complain that the fans had booed them. Poor fans spending hard-earned cash to go all that way and support those overpaid boys.

Hopefully they'll wake up a bit for the next game and do something useful.

With a capital C. They're paid too much as we all know. And they simply don't perform. On the football field at least.

Would you believe I actually taped the game (I've still got an old VHS) AND managed to get through the whole night and following morning without knowing the score till I could watch it, only to be faced with probably the most dire game I've ever seen since Torquay vs Bournemouth (out of season friendly) in 1972.

Debs - won't be long now until we find out whether they get through or follow the french home.

CJ - a touch of smut in that last sentence.

Joe - nothing wrong with having a VHS recorder, we used one last century. Amazed though that you managed to avoid the score for so long.
