WHAT A CONTRAST!

How the weather has changed in the last two weeks. These two photographs were taken in our back garden only two weeks apart - on 9th November and 23rd November - but what a contrast!

A very autumnal feel here with many leaves on the ground but also many still on the trees. A nice bright autumnal sun adds to the view.

But then two weeks later we awoke* to this:-

The trees are virtually bare. Troy Junior woke us this morning with the news that the snow had arrived. We rarely get snow in this area of East Anglia and Troy Junior has yet to see a true deep blanket of snow. Perhaps he will get his wish this winter? I'm just glad I no longer have to commute to work in the winter.

(* for the avoidance of doubt - we hadn't been fast asleep for two weeks!)

OMG !Can you make sure that the weather has been restored to your first photograph? We are arriving in E.Anglia next weekend for the first time in 7 years....guess I need to pack the thermals.
We have F&Fs to visit in 'Silly Suffolk'...will we need a shovel and a thermos of hot coffee?
Now look,we keep our snow firmly on the mountains...you really must exercise more discipline with the elements.
The snow is great for kids though. Sadly,French children don't seem to be into snowmen ! They don't know what they're missing. And as for a handful of snow down the back of the neck ...well!

First of all your garden so reminds me of home! British gardens just have a look about them and a fence. That's the first thing I erected at our home, infact I need to blog about that!

And my mum has been telling me how cold it's gone over there.

Wow! N3S would have been so excited to wake up and see snow. He still talks about the 4 hours of snow we had in February this year. I love the pic of the leaves in your garden, how gorgeous.

Cool photos! We were forecast snow today, but it never materialised. It's cold, but bright and sunny. I don't mind snow, as long as I don't have to drive in it.

Jo - if I had it my way it would be sunny and 22 degrees centigrade all year. The rule with the snow is great but we don't have any mountains.

Sarah - its only a passing cold spell from the Arctic. Glad to hear you put up a fence. Hope you still call it your garden and not the back yard.

DJ - you must come round and help us gather up the leaves next year - then tell us how gorgeous they are. 15:33 on Sunday, is that a before or after comment I wonder?

Kitty - we only got short rations. We were promised up to four inches of snow. I fully endorse your comment regarding the snow and driving.

We haven't had any snow, more's the pity. I always think it looks so pretty.

My boys woke up to a little bit of snow as well. But by the time I woke up from my pit... it had all gone. I never get up before 10am on a Sunday!

Lol...I'll never tell.

We had a little bit more snow, here slightly further north in East Angular.

Debs - well you will live somewhere exotic like Jersey. You need Lichtenstein if you want a tax and snow haven.

Arthur - you're an old cynic. This is an 100% organic blog.

Trixie - its best to keep the boys' bedroom window closed at this time of year! Your time comment reminds me of the old saying "I like to be in bed by 11.30pm on a Saturday - if not I'll go home".

DJ - so that's a yes then.

Dave - yes, the in-laws were in Great Yarmouth and had lots of snow. Strange place for a skiing holiday though.

(I won't be so smug when we're back living there so have to make the most of it while I can!!)

That second picture makes me feel cold and I'm sat in a centrally heated office!

It's freezing outside today. I dread my heating bill, I really do.

We had snow too! It fell, in big fat flakes, for about 5 minutes, covered bits of the garden, and then got clobbered by the big fat drops of rain that persisted all morning.
Was not quick enough with the camera. Or rather, was, but daughter was busy taking pictures of kitten Toby, as he lay fast asleep... by time she had finished, snow was gone.
Quick as an english summer...

Carol - it has changed a lot whilst you've been away.

CJ - that's a big old house you've got to heat up. And I'm guessing its oil not gas? Ouch!

LWM - just leaving the rain which is just like an english summer.

Thanks for all your comments - its heartening to know people out there are reading my blog. And what a nice class of reader I have too!
